Reports suggest Rishabh Pant will not take wicket-keeping duties in IPL 2024, will lead DC only as batter

Rishabh Pant has been a pure entertainer in Indian cricket and has seldom failed to entertain his fans either with his batting or his antics behind the stumps. But since his ouster from the cricket field because of the horrific accident which he encountered in 2022, he has been missed by his fans in the Indian test squad which still hasn’t managed to find an apt replacement for Rishabh Pant.

But the wait is finally over as Rishabh Pant is set to make a comeback in the 2024 IPL playing for the Delhi Capitals. He will lead the Delhi side in the upcoming season and will also entertain the fans with his batting prowess but those who were also eager to see the southpaw behind the stumps will have to wait as according to a report by Cricbuzz, Rishabh Pant will not take the wicket keeping duties in the upcoming IPL season.

The decision is taken into consideration with the medical team to not put much pressure during the initial stages of his comeback after a horrific setback. Pant will be pushed into competitive cricket in phases and in the initial phase he will only bat and field.

Rishabh Pant’s chances for the 2024 T20 World Cup

Rishabh Pant suffered a severe right knee injury that required ligament reconstruction surgery and wicket-keeping is a strenuous job that requires intense fitness and strength and though Rishabh Pant is back fit to play cricket yet he will not take up keeping in the upcoming IPL as a precautionary measure.

According to reports, Pant has started actively taking part in the warm-up games of the IPL which are being held in Alur near Bengaluru. India will announce their team for the upcoming T20 World Cup which will be held in the West Indies and the US during the IPL and although Pant won’t be considered for the tournament yet there is still a glimmer of hope for Pant fans to see him in the World Cup, if he lights up the stage in the IPL with his bat and proves that he is fit to play at the international stage.
