Former India skipper Virat Kohli has completed 15 years with the Bangalore side in the Indian T20 League. On this day in 2008, the right-hander was signed by the franchise from the U19 players category. Also, a while back, he led the India U19 team to a title win, beating South Africa in the final. Meanwhile, Kohli was one of the uncapped Indian players who was picked by the team.

Not to forget, Delhi also had the opportunity to sign him. However, India’s national capital-based side went for the left-arm pacer, Pardeep Sangwan. Meanwhile, Kohli is the only player to play for any team for 15 seasons and is set to play for the same team in the upcoming season. Every other player has switched sides in the league over the years due to many reasons.

However, the 2008 U19 World Cup-winning skipper has been part of the Red Brigade ever since. Over the years, the league has gotten bigger and bigger despite the spot-fixing saga in 2013, a few off-the-field cases in the initial years, and COVID-19 in recent years. Even though the team hasn’t been able to win the title so far, it has a loyal fan base that has never left its side.

Virat Kohli also led the team from 2013 to 2021

Meanwhile, the Deli-born player also led the team from 2013 to 2021. During this phase, the team reached the playoffs in 2015, 2016 (final), 2020, and 2021. In the 2016 season, he broke records as he amassed 973 runs including four hundreds in one season. No player did it before and only Jos Buttler was able to hit four hundreds last year. On the other hand, the England white-ball skipper tried well but couldn’t even come close to Virat’s season aggregate.

Also, Kohli is one of the top run-getters in the history of the league. He has 6634 runs in 223 games including five hundreds (the last one coming in 2019) and has four wickets to his name too.
