‘Rishabh Pant Indian selectors ka damad hai kya?’ – Fans Seem Unhappy As India Announce Final Squad For The 20-20 World Cup In Australia

After having a dismal Asia Cup campaign in UAE, India will now look to do well in the upcoming 20-20 World Cup in Australia. However, before that, they will play two T20I series against Australia and South Africa at home respectively. After that, they will play a three-match ODI series against the Proteas also.

Before the Asia Cup, India dealt with the blow that Jasprit Bumrah will miss the tournament for his back injury. Even before that, Harshal Patel also got ruled out of injury. But, reports were there that both of them will make a comeback into the final squad for the 20-20 World Cup. Even, Indian bowlers looked very ordinary in the Asia Cup. Hence, reports were that Indian selectors might go for Mohammed Shami once again in the T20Is.

As per expectation, India announced their 15-member squad for the 20-20 World Cup on 12 September 2022. Along with it, they also declared the teams for the upcoming T20I series against Australia and South Africa. However, for the World Cup, they went with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Suryakumar Yadav as the main top-order batters. Then, for the middle order, they showed faith in Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant, and Dinesh Karthik. For all-rounder options, they selected Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel. Reports were there that Rishabh Pant might get dropped. Instead of him, Sanju Samson can get a chance.

But, they went with Pant and Karthik ahead of Sanju once again. As spinners, they selected Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal. In the first bowling unit, Jasprit Bumrah and Harsshal Patel made a comeback from their injury setbacks. However, Mohammed Shami failed to make the cut. Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Arshdeep Singh will also be a part of the final squad. As stand-by players, India went with Mohammed Shami, Deepak Chahar, Ravi Bishnoi, and Shreyas Iyer. Fans did not like the squad as they did not pick Iyer and Shami. Hence, they started to raise questions about the selection of the squad on Twitter.
