India is gearing up for the upcoming edition of the Asia Cup, starting on 27 August 2022. However, Indian selectors have announced the squad for that event. Both Dinesh Karthik and Rishabh Pant have been added to the squad. However, Dinesh Karthik has become an integral part of the Indian T20I setup since his return after this year’s Indian T20 League.

Meanwhile, Rishabh Pant has failed to replicate his Test form in the shortest format of the game recently. Hence, fans have started to ask for Dinesh Karthik instead of his place in the playing eleven for the upcoming days. Now, Pant came up with a blunt reply when he was asked about the threat from Dinesh Karthik regarding his place in the T20I lineup.

We don’t think on those lines.” – Rishabh Pant on the possible threats from Dinesh Karthik

Now, ahead of the Asia Cup, Rishabh Pant talked to the Zee Hindustan. He shared that both of them do not think about it at all. The main aim for both of them is to give 100% to the team whenever there is an opportunity. He also added that rest is depending on the team coach, captain, and management.

Pant said: “We don’t think on those lines. We as individuals always want to give our 100 percent to the team. Rest depends on the coach and the captain and how the team could get an advantage from that.” Speaking about India’s schedule, India is going to play three ODIs in Zimbabwe, starting on 18 August 2022.

However, senior players took a rest for that tour ahead of the Asia Cup. However, both of these players are not in the squad for the Zimbabwe ODIs. These players will be in action in the Asia Cup for India. India will kick off their Asia Cup campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on 28 August 2022. Both these players need to deliver their best in the tournament for strengthening their position for the final squad ahead of the T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia.
