Rohit Sharma appreciates Kuldeep Yadav and Hardik Pandya for their consistent performances in recent times

India’s spin bowling sensation, Kuldeep Yadav strikes again in India’s match against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup, 2023. The Indian Cricket Team were dismissed for only 213 runs by the Sri Lankan squad in the super fours stage of the tournament at the end of 49.1 overs. To make their qualification final for the Asia Cup, 2023 final match, the Indian Cricket Team had to dismiss the Sri Lankan batsmen for 212 runs within 50 overs. With a huge challenge surfacing, Kuldeep Yadav gave another exceptional performance as he took 4 wickets while giving 43 runs in 9.3 overs to help the team win. In the previous match against Pakistan, on the same pitch of Colombo, Kuldeep Yadav took a five wicket haul.

“For the past year or so bowling really really well. He has done a lot of hard work on his rhythm. He went back to the drawing board and worked on it. The ball is coming out nicely and you can see the results in the last 10 ODIs,” said Rohit Sharma while praising Kuldeep Yadav for is consistent performances. 

“He has worked really hard in his bowling for the last couple of years. It does not happen overnight and it is pleasing to see. He looked like taking a wicket off every ball. Was not an easy target to defend as the pitch got easier at the end and we had to put it consistently in one area and I think we did quite well”, said Rohit Sharma discussing about the team’s vice captain Hardik Pandya. 

Further while talking about the challenging game, he said, “Was a good game. For us also to play a game like that under pressure on a slightly challenging pitch. Challenging in a lot of aspects. Definitely looking to play on pitches like this to see what we can achieve, we might as well come here and play on pitches like these”.
