In recent times, the India Cricket Team has suffered due to its players getting injured regularly. Washington Sundar is one of those who kept getting injured more than once in the last 12 months or so. Apart from him, players such as T. Natarajan, Deepak Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah, Ravindra Jadeja, etc join the list.

Also, in the ongoing series against Bangladesh, Kuldeep Sen got injured after the first game and now, Rohit Sharma and Deepak Chahar will also miss the last ODI. Meanwhile, after losing the second ODI by just five runs, India skipper Sharma spoke about the injury concerns to the players. He added that the team will try and get to the bottom of it as 100 percent fitness is important for the players.

“I mean there are definitely a few injury concerns. We need to try and get to the bottom of it. I don’t know what exactly it is. Maybe they’re playing too much cricket. We need to try and monitor those guys, because it’s important to understand when they come for India, they need to be a 100%, in fact more than 100%,” Rohit said after India were upstaged by a spirited Bangladesh side in Dhaka on Wednesday.

Can’t afford half-fit guys playing for India: Rohit Sharma

The right-hander further said that the team management will sit back in the NCA and monitor players’ workload. He also said that its not an ideal situation to have half-fit players playing for India

“It’s something we have to look at. We have to sit with our team back home at the NCA as well and try and monitor their workload. That is something we need to look at. We can’t afford guys coming in here half-fit and representing the country. There’s huge pride and honour in representing the country and if they’re not fit enough, it’s not ideal. Having said that, we just need to get to the bottom of it and find out what exactly is the reason behind this,” Rohit added.
