Indian captain Rohit Sharma completes 16 years in the world of cricket on June 23 since his debut in 2007. The Mumbai-based batter began his international career in an ODI against Ireland. He evolved into one of the greatest openers of all time and is one of the finest timers of a cricket ball, and his elegance with the bat is widely praised.

In his 16-year career, he has produced some magnificent innings, most of which came after being promoted as an opener by MS Dhoni in 2013. He is the only cricketer on the planet to score three double hundreds and the first double-hundred is always a special one, which came against Australia in 2013 in M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore. He scored an amazing 209 runs off 158 balls in the decider match against the Aussies.

Rohit Sharma – The record-breaker!

Rohit made his test debut against the West Indies in 2013. He then went on to score a whopping 177 in 301 balls. The inning had 23 boundaries and one maximum. In the 2019 World Cup, the Indian opener was in a distinct touch and form of his life. He went on to record three consecutive hundreds. Rohit initially scored 102 against England, 104 against Bangladesh, and 103 against Sri Lanka.

In the 2019 World Cup, he scored 5 hundreds in total making him the first batter to score 5 hundreds in a single World Cup. He ended the tournament as the highest run-getter with 648 runs in just nine innings at an average of 81.00. The 36-year-old also has the record for scoring the most ODI runs in a innings. Rohit raced to a world-record total of 264 runs against Sri Lanka that consisted of 33 boundaries and 9 maximums. He is the third player in the list of most 20-20 International fifties having 33 half-centuries beside his name.  The Hitman also holds the record for scoring most centuries (four) in the T20Is.

He was seen vacationing with his family in Europe recently. The Indian captain posted a video on Instagram of himself having fun with his daughter Samaira on his shoulder while they were mesmerized by life-sized Disney and other figures in front of them.
