‘Sakreen nahi hota hai screen hota hai’ – Shoaib Akhtar mocks Kamran Akmal for his speaking skills after doing the same to Babar Azam
Former Pakistani pacer Shoaib Akhtar mocked Kamran Akmal’s English on live Television. Recently, Akhtar also slammed Pakistan’s skipper Babar Azam for his poor English and said that the team lacks character.
Both Akhtar and Akmal were part of the panel during the live show on the Pakistani News channel ARY News. Speaking to the anchor, Akhtar first praised the wicketkeeper from Pakistan stating that he is the match-winner for the country and contributed significantly towards the success of the National team.
The former pacer then took a dig at Akmal, saying that he is also not good at English like the other Pakistani players. He pointed out that Akmal can’t even speak the word ‘screen’ properly.
“Kami is our match winner…he must be listening to this,” Shoaib Akhtar said. “He has played really well for Pakistan. Mai sun raha tha, ye bhi keh raha tha sakreen…sakreen ni hota hai, screen hota hai (I heard him speak, he was saying ‘sakreen’. It’s screen and not sakreen),” said Akhtar.
Babar also under fire for his speaking skills
Earlier during an interview with Suno TV, Akhtar said that Babar hasn’t been able to establish himself as a brand because he can’t speak good English.
Meanwhile, Akmal, on another show said that Akhtar says these things just to be in the limelight, and also stated that Babar has done more advertisements than him.
“Jitne Babar ad kar rha hai, utne Shoaib Bhai bhi nhi kar rhe honge.(The number of advertisements Babar is doing these days, I am sure Shoaib (Akhtar) must not be doing as many.)” said Akmal in a show.
Akhtar also clarifies his statement for the Pakistan captain he didn’t intend to belittle him. He then compared Babar with the Indian batter Virat Kohli, by stating that Kohli can speak fluent English.
“I did not intend to belittle Babar. I only wanted Babar Azam to grow as a brand. You all compare him to Virat Kohli, but you should see how fluently Virat speaks. I believe that Babar Azam is as big as Virat Kohli,” said Akhtar.
