Salman Butt takes a savage dig on Pakistan Cricket Team’s selection for the 20-20 World Cup 2022
Ahead of the upcoming 20-20 World Cup 2022, Pakistan has been facing the middle order crisis. It was first spotted during the Asia Cup 2022 in the UAE. Since then, they have a game against India, two games against Sri Lanka including the final of the tournament. After this, they lost the seven-match series and have struggled on a few occasions in the ongoing tri-series against New Zealand and Bangladesh.
In the last more than a month, it has been observed that the team’s batting is heavily reliant on the likes of skipper Babar Azam and Mohammed Rizwan. Also, the team is missing the experience of the players such as Sarfaraz Ahmed, Shoaib Malik, and Mohammad Hafeez. The likes of Ahmed and Malik are still playing the game and were ignored. On the other hand, Hafeez announced his retirement early this year
Meanwhile, in a conversation, former Pakistan opening batter Salman Butt said “A sleeping person can wake up. Ye toh behosh hain (they are unconscious),” said Butt.
The reserve wicketkeeper for Pakistan doesn’t have enough experience: Salman Butt
The former Pakistan opening pointed out on the inexperience of Mohammad Haris at the domestic level. Talking about Haris, he has played 24 T20s, four first-class games, and 23 List A games. The wicketkeeper batters has also played a few international games. He has played four ODIs and one T20I going into the showpiece event. Meanwhile, Butt also pointed the lack of discipline of Haris as a wicketkeeper batter. The Lahore-player also spoke about the lack of form of Fakhar Zaman over a considerable period of time.
“Your second wicketkeeper Mohammad Haris is in traveling reserves. Fakhar Zama is also in reserves, and he is not in form as well. Dahani is also in reserves. You picked Haris. He played 5-6 matches in National T20… he doesn’t even have a score of 15. He dropped three catches in one match,” Butt stated during a chat on Cric Bridge YouTube channel.
