Sandeep Kumar shares his inspiring journey to play PKL 2023/24

Sandeep Kumar has been able to make it to the PKL after doing a lot of hard yards in the domestic tournaments. in the auction of the PKL 2023/24, Sandeep was picked by Patna Pirates. But the journey of Sandeep has been filled with so many struggles. His parents were initially not supportive of his career in Kabaddi. in an interview recently, he revealed about it.

“Our financial condition was not so good. Hence, my family did not support me, but I continued playing kabaddi. Then, I got selected for Junior Nationals and next, I played in the Junior Federation Cup as well as YKS. Next, Patna Pirates signed me at the PKL Auction, and I am playing here now,” said Sandeep as he revealed that he did not get enough support from his parents initially.

Sandeep added that his family did not believe in his future in the sport and refused to give him money to take part in the events. “My family could not support me financially because our condition was weak. I had to ask for money to go to play tournaments, but they would even refuse at times. They would say I don’t have a bright future in kabaddi, and I lose every time. The journey continued like that,” added Sandeep.

Sandeep added that his parents are now happy about his success and are constantly motivating him for his success. “Yes, I get phone calls when I play. They are very happy, and they motivate me to perform well. When I am in substitutes, they ask me why I am not in the playing seven,” added Sandeep. Patna Pirates have 2 wins in their 3 matches so far.

In Patna Pirates, Sandeep has got to play under the likes of Narender Redu and Anil Chaprana. The exciting talent spoke highly of them and said that they are friendly and added that he likes playing under them. “Redu sir is very friendly. He backs me a lot. I get to practice well with him. I am feeling good playing under him,” said Sandeep.
