Sandeep Lamichhane In Major Trouble After An FIR Lodged Against Him
Nepal leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane is a star player who brought his national team a lot of recognition from fans across the globe. He made his international debut at the tender age of 18. Since then, he has played 30 ODIs and 44 T20Is and has 69 and 85 wickets respectively. Over the years, he is the only player from his country to play in different T20 leagues across the globe.
He has played in the Indian T20 League, Caribbean Premier League (CPL), Pakistan Super League (PSL), Big Bash League (BBL), and Global T20 Canada. In the Indian T20 League, he has played for now-defunct Kochi and the 2020 finalists, Delhi. Talking about the CPL, he played for St.Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Barbados Royals before signing with Jamaica Tallahwahs this year.
In the PSL, he played for 2022 winners, Lahore Qalandar, and played for Toronto Nationals and Montreal Tigers in the Canadian league. He has also played for Oval Invincibles in The Hundred Men’s competition. Meanwhile, a rape case has been filed against the leg-spinner by a minor in Kathmandu. She alleges that the player raped her in a hotel room on August 17. According to the girl, she met the cricketer through her friend.
Police confirm the FIR
AIG Rabindra Singh Dhanuk from Kathmandu Valley Police Office has confirmed the filing of the FIR against the star cricketer. He added that he will give more details later and the minor’s health check-up has been done.
“A rape complaint has been filed against Sandeep Lamichhane. It’s a minor’s complaint, I will give further details regarding this tomorrow. The victim’s health check-up has also been performed this evening,” he said.
Recently, Sandeep played in the five-match T20I series in Kenya. The team won the series by 3-2. Ahead of the tri-series, he left the team to play in the ongoing CPL for two-time winners Jamaica. At this point, he hasn’t commented on the matter and will be interesting to see when he comes up with his side of the story.
