The World Cup winner has had a solid second season at PSG after a challenging first campaign. In 27 games, he has 16 goals and 14 assists. The Ligue 1 juggernauts’ contract with the 35-year-old is scheduled to end this coming summer. Aguero’s remarks could be a huge signal about Messi’s next team, given the rumors that he might leave the French city.

Messi’s agent Jorge and his father had a meeting scheduled with the PSG management, earlier, this week to talk about a potential contract extension, according to a report from the French publication L’Equipe. Inter Miami of the MLS could sign him in the summer, according to another report.

What did Sergio Aguero reveal about Messi’s club?

In an Instagram live session conducted by former Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero, he spoke about Messi’s next club. Aguero said,

“He is seriously considering the possibility of playing for Newell’s.”

In June, Messi is anticipated to take the field in Rosario, the home of Newell’s Old Boys, for former Liverpool player Maxi Rodriguez’s testimonial match. On Aguero’s assertion, Rodriguez remarked that nothing is certain.

He spoke about what Aguero had said in his live session on Instagram and gave his opinion on that. He said,

“Kun is Kun. He can’t keep quiet. We will see. It is hard to talk about this because then a giant ball of rumours is made. Let’s wait and see what happens. We will not get ahead of the facts.”

Journalist Dominique Grimault of L’Equipe called Lionel Messi a “walker” and chastised him for his lack of effort. He continued by saying that releasing the superstar would be beneficial for PSG’s long-term success.

“If there is an elimination [against Bayern Munich], PSG will retain neither Neymar nor Messi. I also think [PSG] must put Mbappé at the heart of the Parisian project. Lionel Messi is 30 percent of what he was there a few years with FC Barcelona.” he said
