Tabletoppers Mumbai and Delhi squared off in the 18th game of the Women’s T20 League 2023, with Jemimah Rodrigues of the Delhi franchise shining on the field. Meg Lanning’s team sought to maintain the competition for first place, while Harmanpreet Kaur‘s team entered the game on top, looking to secure their position in the league standings. Jemimah Rodrigues, the hard-hitter, had an outstanding day on the field in the meantime.

Rodrigues is a fierce fielder, and during the game versus Mumbai at the DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, she proved just that. Yastika Bhatia and Nat Sciver Brunt were dismissed by Kapp in her second over of the match after Delhi won the toss. But, a Jemimah special quickly came after. When Hayley Matthews attempted to play it wide of mid-on, Shikha Pandey threw her one fuller. On the other hand, Jemimah sprinted, stretched, and dived to catch a beautiful catch to her right. Even Rodrigues was astonished, judging by her priceless reaction.

Delhi won the game by 9 wickets

This was not it. She also performed the well-known floss dance moves when she reeled in Harmanpreet Kaur, the big fish. The Mumbai captain appeared prepared and was going for a high score. On a difficult surface, she had scored 23 runs in 25 balls and was determined to keep going. But Shikha Pandey once more assisted Rodrigues in gaining some attention. After Kaur attempted to slog it over mid-wicket but came up against Rodrigues at the fence, she bowled another full-on off. The young Indian danced the floss with joy and delight at capturing the Indian captain.

In the end, Delhi won the match by 9 wickets after being handed a target of 110 runs to chase in 120 balls. Delhi reached their target in 9 overs, completing the game with 66 balls left. This gave them a massive net run rate boost, riding on which Delhi are the new Women’s T20 League table toppers.
