‘We will have a chance there……’ – Shakib-Al-Hasan confident of Bangladesh’s excellence in T20 World Cup 2024
Bangladesh star cricketer Shakib-Al-Hasan revealed that he will have talks with the Bangladesh Cricket Board over his captaincy duties. Notably, the star cricketer has been missing his national side since he sustained injuries in the 2023 ODI World Cup in host country India. However, the star cricketer Najmul Hossain Shanto has been leading the side in his absence.
The 36-year-old cricketer revealed that he will talk about his captaincy role with his board. Notably, Shakib-Al-Hasan was appointed as the captain when star opener Tamim Iqbal stepped down ahead of the ODI World Cup 2023. Meanwhile, the decision will come out soon, which will be best for the team.
“No discussion on it (national team captaincy) so far but I will talk with the board and there will be a discussion about it. Later a decision will be taken in this regard by everyone that will be best for the team,” Shakib-Al-Hasan said after a training session on Tuesday.

The left-handed batter also talks about their team’s preparation for the T20 World Cup 2024, which is all set to commence on June 1 in host countries the West Indies and the USA. Moreover, Shakib-Al-Hasan revealed that his side has been performing well in T20I games, and he is hopeful of performing with excellence in marquee event sets with a few days to go.
“Expectations are high every time and it will be the same this time too since we have been playing very well for the last year in T20 editions. The team is balanced now and everyone is playing well we played well in New Zealand so expectations will be high. It will be played in the United States and West Indies where our cricket perhaps will be more suitable, so we will have a chance there,” he added further.
