On 24 August 2022, the Indian Cricket Board announced the final squad of India A for the four-day matches against New Zealand A. Priyank Panchal will lead the team. Many new names like Umran Malik and Yash Dayal also managed to get a place in the squad. But, Sheldon Jackson missed a spot in the squad once again.

Selectors showed faith in names like Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rajat Patidar, and Sarfaraz Khan. Despite scoring a lot of runs in recent tournaments in the domestic arena, Sheldon Jackson failed to grab any attention from the selectors. Therefore, he came up with a direct jab at the selectors on Twitter.

Here is the tweet:

Sheldon Jackson scored 311 runs in five innings in the last season of the Ranji Trophy

Speaking of the shared tweet, Jackson wrote: “I have a right to believe and dream that if I have performed for 3 continuous seasons, I may get picked on the basis of my performances, not age, tired of hearing this that I’m a good player and performer but I’m old, I’m 35, not 75.”

Selectors have chosen all these players based on their recent performances in the domestic arena, especially in the last edition of the Ranji Trophy. However, Jackson scored 311 runs in just five innings at an average of 78.25. He also smashed four fifties in the same number of innings. Still, he failed to get any chance for these upcoming matches against New Zealand A.

Meanwhile, New Zealand A will tour India for playing three four-day matches. They will also play three one-day matches also after that. Bengaluru and Hubli will host the four-day matches. On the other hand, Chennai will host the one-day matches. However, the final squad for the white-ball games will be announced later.

India A squad for four-day matches: Priyank Panchal (Captain), Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Tilak Varma, KS Bharat (wk), Upendra Yadav (wk), Kuldeep Yadav, Saurabh Kumar, Rahul Chahar, Prasidh Krishna, Umran Malik, Mukesh Kumar, Yash Dayal, Arzan Nagwaswalla.
