Shoaib Akhtar gives his verdict on the best batter of his time
India-Pakistan has been considered the mother of all rivalries in the cricketing world. Every time the two teams have faced each other, the world has been glued to the encounter.
The two teams have had their own stars who have added spark to the encounters over the years. One such start of the Pakistan team has been the speedster, Shoaib Akhtar. His name used to be enough to strike fear in the minds of the best batters around the world during his playing days. Akhtar was particularly famous for his sheer pace and flamboyant style.
The two of the best batters during Akhtar’s playing time who dominated the world were Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara. Fans and experts have been divided into two camps regarding who is the better player between Lara and Tendulkar. But now Akhtar has picked his choice between the two legends.
In a presentation by Sportskeeda, Shoaib Akhtar was asked a series of questions with two options. In one of the questions, he was asked to pick between Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara. He went ahead to pick the Indian legend ahead of Lara.
In another question, he was asked to choose between Waqar Younis and Wasim Akram. Notably, both Waqar and Akram have been legends with the bowl in hand for Pakistan and Akhtar has played under the captaincy of both of them. Akhtar picked Waqar Younis among the two.

Speaking of Lara and Tendulkar, both of them have many hard-to-break records to them. Lara has the record of scoring 400* runs in one inning of a Test, which is the highest in the history of the game. He also holds the record for the most number of 300+ scores (2) in Test cricket along with Virender Sehwag and Sir Donald Bradman. On the other hand, Sachin Tendulkar has 100 international (51 in Tests and 49 in ODIs) centuries to his name, which is the most by any batter. He also holds the records for most international runs (34,357), most runs in Test cricket (15,921), most runs in ODI (18,426), first double hundred in ODI cricket, and many more.
