 Shreyas Iyer set to miss reaming Test games against England

Indian batter Shreyas Iyer is likely to miss the reaming Test matches against England due to a stiff back and groin injury. The second Test match of the five-match Test series ended in India’s favour. India won the Test match by 106 runs in Vizag. The first Test match was played in Hyderabad and England won the game by 28 runs. The series is now levelled at 1-1.

As the third Test match is set to be played in Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Rajkot, injured foes in the Indian camp are rising. As per reports, Shreyas Iyer has been sent back to the National Cricket Academy (NCA) for further medical examination.

Shreyas Iyer’s form with bat is questioned in test matches. In the two games against England, he has scored 106 runs so far. Iyer is expected to return during the Indian Premier League (IPL).

“Iyer has informed the Indian team management and the medical staff that his back gets stiff after playing more than 30 balls and he feels pain in his groin while playing forward defence,” a source told The Indian Express.

Injury concerns for India counties

Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul were already injured during the second Test match against England. Ravindra Jadeja pulled out his hamstring while running and KL Rahul complained of pain in his right quadriceps. However, there is no news on Virat Kohli’s comeback in the Test series against England. As injury concerns woes up Sarfaraz Khan may get a chance to play in the third Test match against England in Rajkot.

There is currently a break going on between the Test series. The third Test match still has six days to go it is expected that India’s squad for the next three Test matches is going to be announced soon. Many problems are coming up for the selectors. They are also looking to rest Jasprit Bumrah due to over-workload management.
