Shubham Shinde reveals secret behind his success following historic performance against Tamil Thalaivas

Shubham Shinde gave a memorable performance in the game against Tamil Thalaivas in the PKL 2023/24. The Bengal Warriors defender became one of the fewest defenders to claim more than 10 tackle points in a single match in the history of the league. The defense of Shinde and others helped the Warriors to win the match by a margin of 48-38 despite being behind in the game during the first half.

In the first half, Bengal was trailing in the game. Tamil Thalaivas held the lead in the first 30 minutes of the game, but, a super raid from Maninder Singh followed by the defense masterclass from Shubham ensured a brilliant turnaround for Warriors. They went on to win the game by a margin of 10 points, which ensured that their opponents did not even get to earn a point due to score difference.

Speaking about his performance in the season till now, Shinde said that his fitness and strength has helped him to perform well. “Fitness and strength were my key areas, and with the ankle hold being my signature move, I’ve invested significant time in perfecting it. My back hold and double thigh hold have also seen significant improvement during this period,” said Shubham.

The 24-year-old added that the defense of the side looks better this season than their previous one, as they have been able to play together by anticipating each other’s moves. “The defense combination looks more effective this season because we’ve played together extensively, so we anticipate each other’s moves, making our chain tackles seamless and effective,” added Bengal Warriors defender.

Shinde became the top five defenders with most tackle points in a single match of the league. With his performance against Tamil Thalaivas, Shinde joined the record books. In 13 attempts, Shinde claimed 11 points with an incredible conversion rate second to none. In three matches of the league so far, Shubham has a total of 15 tackle points. Shubham has a tackle per cent of 70 in the season so far.
