‘Sir Jadeja’s magic’ – Twitter reacts as Ravindra Jadeja becomes top-ranked Test all-rounder in the world

The first of the two-match Test series between India and Sri Lanka well and truly belonged to Ravindra Jadeja. It wouldn’t be an overstatement to say that he completely dominated the visitors. Be it with the bat or with the ball, the all-rounder couldn’t have asked for a better game.

It is to be noted that this was his comeback game as he was playing a Test after more than three months. However, it never really looked like he went anywhere. His outstanding performance ensured that he goes on to become the new number one ranked all-rounder.

According to the updated Men’s Test Player Rankings, Jadeja is now the top-ranked all-rounder in the longest format of the game. He currently sits at the top with 406 points. Thus, Twitter was quick to react and showered heaps of praises for the southpaw.

Several users took to Twitter to appreciate him for his consistency. They mentioned the fact that he has been an absolute “Rockstar”. As far as the game is concerned, Jadeja scored an unbeaten 175 and struck 17 boundaries and three sixes.

After which, he also picked a fifer in the second innings. He wasn’t done as he backed it up by picking a four-fer in the third and final innings. Thus, this ensured that he won the player of the match award as well. During the post-match presentation, Jadeja said that this (Mohali) was his “lucky ground”.

“I would say this is my lucky ground. Whenever I come here I get positive vibes. I was looking to build a partnership with Rishabh, give him the strike and enjoy his batting from the other end. To be honest I don’t know about any stat. Feeling very good, happy to score runs and pick wickets for the team. Obviously, as a player you boost your confidence with such a performance. I have not done anything differently, just played to my strengths and I give myself time to settle down. I look to keep it very simple out in the middle. I haven’t played with the SG pink ball, so it is going to be different and I will practice for a couple of days, hopefully it comes good,” said Ravindra Jadeja.
