The Qualifier 2 of the Indian T20 League 2022 took place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad between Rajasthan and Bangalore. A pace in the finals of the tournament was at stake in the match. But much to the anticlimax, the encounter turned out to be a rather one sided affair.

Rajasthan won the toss and decided to chase in the all important match. Virat Kohli (7 of 8) failed to impress once again as he was dismissed in the second over of the innings. Faf du Plessis and Rajat Patidar got the innings back on track with a 70 runs partnership. Du Plessis found it very difficult to get going and was ultimately dismissed in the 11th over of the innings after he scored 25 runs off 27 balls. Patidar however looked to have picked up form where he left in the last match. Wickets kept tumbling for Bangalore and they failed to consolidate on the start that they got Patidar was dismissed in the 16th over  of the innings after he scored a 42 ball 58, hitting 4 fours and 3 sixes.  Besides Patidar only Maxwell (24 off 13) played a knock of substance while others failed to impress. Bangalore managed a moderate total of 157 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in their 20 overs.

During their chase Rajasthan set  the tone in the very first over as Yashasvi Jaiswal slammed Mohammed Siraj for 16 runs. The opening pair then put together a partnership of 61 runs in just 5.1 overs before Jaiswal (21 of 13) was dismissed. Sanju Samson joined Jos Buttler in the middle, who was already in an aggressive mode. The duo kept the momentum going that was set by Jaiswal. Samson (23 of 21) was dismissed in the 12th over at the team’s score of 113. At that stage it looked like the wicket came a little late. Jos Buttler remained not out till the end and ensured that his team reaches the final of the tournament. He scored a brilliant 104 off 60 balls as Rajasthan won the match by 7 wickets with 1.5 overs remaining in the match. This the second time Rajasthan will be playing the finals of the tournament after the inaugural season in 2008. On the other hand, Bangalore’s wait to lay hands on the coveted trophy continues.
