 Sri Lanka appoint new full-time Cricket Consultant to revamp their cricket

Sri Lanka appointed Sanath Jayasuriya as their new full-time Cricket Consultant. the decision has been taken to revamp their cricket following a disastrous campaign in the ODI World Cup 2023. The contract between SLC and Jayasuriya is for one year. The confirmation on the same was given by Sri Lankan cricket on its social media account in various formats. Jayasuriya was an aggressive batter in his time.

SLC took to X and announced the same through a statement. In the statement, the Sri Lankan cricket wrote the roles of Jayasuriya under the new profile. The job of Sanath is to ensure an optimum level of professionalism. Further, it was written that Sanath had to ensure the delivery of the players and coaching staff in the most proficient way possible. The former SL cricketer will help the team recover from the bad phase during the ODI World Cup 2023.

“Under this role, Jayasuriya will be responsible for ensuring that SLC national programmes achieve an optimum level of professionalism and that all players and coaching staff are monitored in order to deliver excellence,” wrote SLC in its statement. They further added that the role of Jayasuriya would also be to make sure of the coordination between various groups.

‘He will also establish national specialist skills programmes’ – SLC 

In its statement, SLC wrote that Sanath would oversee the training and coaching process of all the teams, resulting in a high-performance centre. “Accordingly, he will oversee the training, coaching requirements of all teams aligned with the high-performance center,” added SLC in its statement. Jayasuriya was a former Sri Lanka captain and helped the team to win some of the bilateral series.

In its statement, SLC wrote that Sanath would establish national specialist skills programmes. It was further revealed that Sanath would be helping in aligning key staff to the lead roles such as skills, discipline, and other tasks. “He will also establish national specialist skills programmes with key staff aligned to lead roles within each skill discipline, among several other tasks,” wrote SLC.
