Star English batter to make his debut for Punjab today

Punjab will be taking on the defending champions Chennai in the 11th match of the Indian T20 League 2022 on Sunday. Both the teams are coming off a defeat in their last game.
Punjab had issues in their batting lineup in their last match against Kolkata. They got bundled out for 137 runs which were chased down easily by the opponent team. The middle order of the team looked brittle and lacked positive intent. While they are looking to address their problems woes, the camp has received some good news. Star English batter of the Punjab squad Johnny Bairstow will be available for selection for today’s match against Chennai.
Johnny Bairstow was unavailable for the team in their first two matches due to international commitments. He was featuring for England against West Indies in the Test series, that his team lost by a margin of 0-1. Now that he has arrived for the Indian T20 League and is available to play, it will give a big boost to the Punjab team. There is no denying the fact that he will be key to the team’s fortune going ahead in the tournament.
Notably, he was bought by Punjab for a hefty price of INR 6.75 Cr in the mega auction of the Indian T20 League 2022. Before this, he has featured for the Hyderabad franchise in the last three editions of the tournament. In his ITL career, Bairstow has played 28 matches and has scored 1038 runs at an average of over 40 and strike rate above 140. He will give Punjab batting the added impetus and intent that was absent in their batting unit against Kolkata.
