Star Player to miss India versus Bangladesh Asia Cup 2023 game for birth of his child
India plays Bangladesh on Friday in a game that has no bearing on either team. The Indian team has already qualified for the finals of the tournament. Sri Lanka will be facing India in the final which is to be played on Sunday at Colombo
Bangladesh on the other hand will be going back after facing an early exit from the tournament. Shakib Al Hasan had already seen his side lose to Pakistan and Sri Lanka. This meant that they were out of contention for a place in the final.
Star player set to fly back home
Ahead of the game on Friday, Bangladesh dealt with a blow. Mushfiqur Rahim the veteran Bangladeshi player has flown back home. The reason behind the move is because he is with his family. Rahim is set to welcome his second child and hence will not play the game against India.
Rahim has been one of the star performers for Bangladesh this Asia Cup 2023. His absence means that Litton Das will be doing the wicket-keeping duties. Speaking about the Indian team seamers, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj are set to be rested. Even Hardik Pandya is likely to be given a break as Shreyas Iyer is set to make a comeback.
There is a chance that Prasidh Krishna could come back to the playing XI along with Mohammad Shami. There is also a chance for Surya Kumar Yadav to make a case for himself in the starting XI. Tilak Varma could also get a look-in to the Indian team in case Rohit Sharma wants to test the youngster.
India began the Super-4 stage with a 228-run win over Pakistan. This was followed by the 41-run win over Sri Lanka on Tuesday. India has won the Asia Cup a record 7 times and will be looking to win their 8th title on Sunday.
Rohit Sharma as a captain also has won 8 games out of 9 with one washout. Rohit Sharma is yet to lose a game in the Asia Cup and led India to a win in 2018 after beating Bangladesh. The Indian team will not want to make too many changes to their batting order with the World Cup coming near.
