‘Such a pathetic tweet from an ex-cricketer..’ – Fans react to Virender Sehwag’s post about Dhruv Jurel’s performance on day 3 of fourth Test against England
Former India opener Virender Sehwag feels India’s new wicketkeeper batter Dhruv Jurel did not get as much hype on social media as other debutants in this series.
If India wins the fourth Test in Ranchi, then a big factor is, without doubt, Dhruv Jurel, who played an inning of 90 runs at a time of great need on the fourth day of the match. Because of Juerl’s fighting knock India scored 307 runs in the first innings. He also took a brilliant catch that 45-year-old Virender Sehwag became his admirer.
Dhruv is the hero of India’s first innings in the fourth Test against England
23-year-old right-handed wicketkeeper batter for India has played one of his brilliant innings in his second Test. After winning the toss England scored 345 runs in first innings. India was struggling in the first innings. At one time, India was 177 for 7. Then Dhruv Jurel came to the crease and played a brilliant knock of 90 runs off 149 balls. He hit six fours and four sixes. He took a brilliant catch of James Anderson in the second innings too.
After watching Dhruv Jurel’s performance Virender Sehwag thought Dhruv should have gotten more attention for his performance and He expressed his feelings on Social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter). Sehwag said ‘No media hype, no drama, just some outstanding skills and quietly showed great temperament in a very difficult situation. Very well done Dhruv Jurel. Best wishes” this on Sunday.
The debate on this tweet by Sehwag went in a different direction, then the great batsman of his time gave a detailed clarification on this matter and explained the meaning of his words.
“Not to degrade or demean anyone, but hype should be on performance and be equal. Some guys have bowled brilliantly, some have batted exceptionally but haven’t got the hype they deserve. Akash Deep was outstanding here, Yashasvi has been brilliant through the series and so was Sarfaraz at Rajkot and Dhruv Jurel in all his opportunities. Hype sabko karo.” he also wrote this later.
