Suryakumar Yadav has his say on the Lucknow pitch and Hardik Pandya wouldn’t be too happy about that
The Indian team, led by Hardik Pandya, are currently locking horns with New Zealand in a three-match T20I series. The first match took place in Ranchi, while the second match was held in Lucknow. The matches were held at different venues but both pitches extracted loads of turn.
Both the cricketers and the fans were quite surprised by the high degree of turn the pitches had. India lost the first match but came back with a 6-wicket win in the second game in Lucknow. Despite winning the second match, Indian captain Hardik Pandya expressed displeasure on the pitch laid out for the crucial encounter.
India had restricted New Zealand to just 99 runs in the first innings, while Hardik Pandya and Co. took 19.5 overs to complete the chase.
“To be honest, it was a shocker of a wicket”, Hardik Pandya said at the post-match presentation.
Team India have reached Ahmedabad for the third and final match. Ahead of the game, India batter Suryakumar Yadav also had his say on Hardik Pandya’s statement with regards to the pitch.
Yadav had a different opinion on the pitch, saying that the players need to adapt to whatever conditions are available at the time.
“It doesn’t matter what soil you play on. These are the things which aren’t in you control. Whatever was in our control, we did in the last game. And we had to apply and adapt whatever we got. Also, it was an exciting game. No matter what the condition or the format is, if both teams try to have a good competition…wicket shouldn’t matter a lot. You go out there, have a challenge, accept it and move on,” he said.
India batters struggled to score runs in the second T20I in pursuit of a 100-run target. Suryakumar Yadav, however, held firm at one end and played an unbeaten 26-run to guide his team home. He will be an important batter for the team going ahead in the third and final game of the series.
