 Tentative dates and venues of India for ODI World Cup 2023 announced

The iconic Narendra Modi Stadium is all set to host the much-awaited match between India and arch-rivals Pakistan in the upcoming ODI World Cup which is scheduled to take place later this year, in October-November in India. However,  the official dates of the tournament are yet to be announced, but according to the report of ESPNcricinfo, the match between India and Pakistan is set to take place on October 15.

The report further asserted that last year’s finalists, England and New Zealand will kick off the tournament on October 5, while on the other hand, India will play their first match of the tournament against Australia at Chennai’s MA Chidambaram Stadium on October 8. According to the report, a draft schedule was shared by Indian Cricket Borad and Apex Cricket Council, and then they shared that further with other countries for feedback.

The venues for the knockout games – semi-final and final are yet to be announced. The dates for the semi-finals can be November 15 and 16, while the final can be played on November 19. The final is set to be hosted by Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. As per the report, India is set to play their World Cup matches on  nine venues, which are as follows:

Ind vs Pak, Oct 15, Ahmedabad

Ind vs Ban, Oct 19, Pune

Ind vs NZ, Oct 22, Dharamsala

Ind vs Eng, Oct 29, Lucknow

Ind vs qualifier, Nov 2, Mumbai

Ind vs SA, Nov 5, Kolkata

Ind vs qualifier, Nov 11, Bengaluru

On the other hand, Pakistan are set to play their World Cup matches at five venues during the league stage matches. Men in Green will play the two qualifying teams on October 6 and 12 in Hyderabad, Australia in Bengaluru (October 20), Afghanistan (October 23) and South Africa (October 27) in Chennai, Bangladesh in Kolkata (October 31), New Zealand in Bengaluru (November 5, day match) and England in Kolkata (November 12).

Among the other big clashes, is the match between Australia and New Zealand in Dharamsala on October 29, and Australia face England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 4. New Zealand will lock horns with South Africa in Pune on November 1.
