 ‘Thank god Prasidh Krishna not playing’ – Fans react to India’s win over Australia by 20 runs to seal T20I series in Raipur

India beat Australia on Friday in Raipur to win the T20 series. Suryakumar Yadav was a happy camper as he won his first series as the skipper of the side in the absence of some huge names.

Matthew Wade yet again won the toss and chose to bowl first as Raipur hosted its first T20I game. Australia made five changes to their game in Guwahati which the visitors had won by 5 wickets. Glenn Maxwell who had scored a century in the last game was back home after an extended spell in India.

Shreyas Iyer and Deepak Chahar were back in the Indian line-up playing T20 Cricket after a long time. Ishan Kishan was rested for the game as Jitesh Sharma got to show his talents with the bat. Mukesh Kumar was back after getting married on Tuesday.

India seals T20 series with 20-run win over Australia –

Indian Cricket Team got off to a great start after being put into bat first scoring 174 runs on the board for the loss of 9 wickets. Openers Yashasvi Jaiswal and Ruturaj Gaikwad added 50 for the 1st wicket before Jaiswal was out for 37. Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 32 before falling to leg-spinner Tanveer Sangha.

Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav fell for 8 and 1 respectively as India was suddenly looking jittery. At 111/4 in the 14th over, Rinku Singh was joined by Jitesh Sharma and the pair added 56 runs for the 5th wicket in 32 balls. Jitesh Sharma was out after scoring 35 runs off 19 balls while Rinku Singh top-scored with 46 runs.

Chasing 175 to win, Australia got off to a terrific start as Travis Head continued to torment the Indian bowlers. It was Ravi Bishnoi for the 4th game in a row that got the Indian team its first wicket. The young leggie had Joshua Phillipe out bowled for 8.

Axar Patel got India its biggest wicket when Travis Head mistimed a sweep shot to be caught by Mukesh Kumar for 31. The 29-year-old then got the wickets of Aaron Hardie and Ben McDermott to leave Australia at 87/4.

Deepak Chahar had given 29 runs from his first two overs, the 31-year-old made amends for it later in the game. Tim David and Matthew Short fell to the CSK bowler as Australia found themselves deep in trouble. The Indian bowlers kept their cool as they won the game and took the series 3-1 with a game to go on Sunday in Bengaluru.
