‘Thank you Sreesanth’ – Twitter reacts as S Sreesanth announces retirement from all forms of cricket
India pacer S Sreesanth, yesterday, March 9th announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The pacer represented India in 50 Tests, 50 ODIs and 10 T20Is. He played his last international game for India in 2011.
The pacer took to Twitter to convey the same. He said that he took this decision to make way for the next generation. “It has been an honor to represent my family, my teammates, and the people of India. Nd everyone who loves the game. With much sadness but without regret, I say this with a heavy heart: I am retiring from the Indian domestic (first class and all formats) cricket,” read S Sreesanth’s Tweet.

“For the next generation of cricketers..I have chosen to end my first class cricket career. This decision is mine alone, and although I know this will not bring me happiness, it is the right and honorable action to take at this time in my life. I ve cherished every moment,” he added.

Thus, Twitter users were quick to congratulate him on his career. In fact, several of his former teammates went on to wish him all the best for his future. It is to be noted that Sreesanth picked 171 international wickets in his career. Hence, cricket fans on Twitter drew light on his major achievements for India, most notably his performances during the 20-20 World Cup 2007.
In the process, he was a part of two world cup-winning campaigns. Although he was banned for life for his alleged involvement in spot-fixing in the Indian T20 league, it was later reduced to seven years after Sreesanth continuously contested it. The flamboyant bowler made a comeback in 2020.
