As the young Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal batted brilliantly in the 2nd Test match against England, the hosts defeated the English team by 106 runs in Visakhapatnam. Jaiswal scored 207 runs in the first innings and Gill scored 104 runs in the second innings. Thus, India set a massive target of 399 runs. However, former Indian pacer Zaheer Khan isn’t happy with the batting department. He compared the English batters’ performance to the Indian batters and said that the hosts lacked a collective effort.

Khan said, “There are a few concerns when you look at the team – batting is something that they will be talking about because under these conditions, on this sort of a surface, we have seen India do better. You look at England’s second innings, there is only one half-century and they still managed to get close to 300. That is what collective effort can do. We have seen two brilliant innings – Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill, but with the bat, there is a lot of work to be done.”

There were a lot of players including the captain Rohit Sharma who failed to fire in both the Test matches. Although India won the second match, the credit will be given to the bowlers as they gave their best to help India level the 5-match series, 1-1.

‘Rohit has been superb’ – Zaheer Khan praises Rohit Sharma’s captaincy in 2nd Test match

Zaheer Khan is quite impressed with the way Rohit Sharma captained in the 2nd Test match against England. Giving Jasprit Bumrah frequent chances in a spin track was something which elated the former pacer. He also praised the way Rohit kept on changing the bowlers according to the situation’s demand.

Zaheer said, “On the bowling front as well, you had the brilliance of Jasprit Bumrah. On this kind of surface, you feel that your spinners were at times under pressure, and because of that, they needed the help from the batters. So, to control all these factors – this is where the captain needs to come into play, and Rohit has been superb when it comes to all these factors and situations.”
