The much-awaited fifth rescheduled Test match between England and India ended on 5 July 2022 as the host defeated the visitors by seven wickets at Edgbaston in Birmingham. India came with a 2-1 lead to this match with the hope to win a Test series on English soil. But, the dream got shattered again as England handed them a crushing defeat.

The match was full of intensity and energy as both teams gave their full potential to bring out the best possible results. However, an incident happened while England was batting in the first innings. Former India captain Virat Kohli got involved in a verbal spat with Jonny Bairstow with a motive to distract him from his game. But, it did not go in favour of Kohli or India, as Jonny Bairstow smashed them after that and scored another Test hundred. Kohli was seen also to suggest Jonny Bairstow for shutting up and concentrating on his batting only.

The images regarding that incident went viral quickly. But, in the end, when England came out victorious over India, the England Cricket Board came up with a cheeky tweet to mock the Indian batter. The Board posted two contrasting pictures of Kohli and Bairstow together with an emoji of mouth-shutting.

Here is the tweet shared by the England Cricket Board:

Speaking about the match, India was asked to bat and India put up a great effort to score 416 runs, thanks to Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja’s hundreds. In reply, Jonny Bairstow was the lone warrior as he scored a hundred to take England to 284 runs.

In the second innings, India did not bat up to the mark as they managed only 2245 runs. Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant scored fifty each in that innings. Then, India set up a target of 378 runs for England. But, English batters, especially, Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow responded beautifully as they pulled off their highest ever chase in the history of Test cricket. Root and Bairstow built an unbeaten partnership of 259 runs as India only managed to pick up three wickets. Joe Root was adjusted the player of the series for England while Jasprit Bumrah was the player of the series for India.
