‘The Man The Myth The Legend’ – Fans react as Virat Kohli becomes the fastest player to score 13000 ODI runs

During the Asia Cup Super-4 match against arch-rival Pakistan at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Monday, India’s batsman Virat Kohli achieved the milestone of becoming the quickest player to amass 13,000 runs in One Day Internationals (ODIs). During the Super Four match, Kohli surpassed Sachin Tendulkar’s record of 13,000 ODI runs, establishing himself as the quickest player to reach this milestone.

On the reserve day of the match, Kohli resumed his innings from the previous day and reached a half-century in 55 balls. The modern era great then accelerated, taking just 29 more deliveries to complete his 47th ODI century. This achievement came in his 267th innings, making him the fastest batsman to reach milestones such as 8,000, 9,000, 10,000, 11,000, 12,000, and now 13,000 ODI runs. Kohli’s consistent and remarkable performances have solidified his place as one of the greatest ODI batsmen in cricket history.

The batting maestro’s achievement of reaching 13,000 ODI runs in 54 innings fewer than Sachin Tendulkar (who took 321 innings) adds significant weight to the ongoing debate comparing the two cricket legends. The legendary India batter scored his 47th ODI century bringing him within two centuries of matching his idol’s record and just three away from surpassing Tendulkar to reach the remarkable milestone of 50 one-day international centuries. This remarkable feat solidifies Kohli’s status as one of the greatest ODI batsmen in cricket history.

The 34-year-old showed exceptional performance against Pakistan and contributed significantly to India’s total of 356/2, with KL Rahul also scoring a century, marking his sixth ODI century. Kohli and Rahul combined to form an unbeaten partnership of 233 runs for the third wicket, setting a new record of 356 runs for the highest partnership in Asia Cup history.

Let us look at how Twitter has reacted to this scintillating performance from the legendary batter:

KL Rahul scored a century on his comeback

After returning to international cricket after a span of close to 6 months the star Indian batter KL Rahul certainly showed why he is rated so highly when it comes to batting in the middle order. The talismanic India batter scored a brilliant century on his return scoring 111 runs off just 106 runs including 12 boundaries along with two monstrous sixes.

The highlight of his innings was his superb batting against spin as well as then playing the pace bowling equally good on their front foot as well as back foot. The wicketkeeper batter also took the attack to the opposition and made sure that the Indian team registered a mammoth first-innings total.
