It is often said that cricket is not merely a game in India, it’s a religion. If that is true then this religion has only one God in the nation and his name is Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar. There is no cricket fan in the whole world who is not acquainted with the name of the Indian legend.

Sachin turns 49 today on the 24th of April, 2022. The fans, followers of the game, and his colleagues all took to social media platforms to wish him on the happy occasion. Some even claimed that the date be marked as the national cricket day for his contribution, love and passion towards the game.

Often called Sachin ‘Record’ Tendulkar, there is no batting milestone that the man has not achieved. Here are some of the records Sachin possesses-

  • Most runs in international career – 34,357
  • Most hundreds in international career- 100
  • Most hundreds against one team -20
  • Most hundreds in a calendar year- 12
  • Most nineties in international career- 28
  • Most fifties in international career- 264
  • Most runs in ODI cricket- 18426
  • Most runs in a calendar year – 1894
  • Most hundreds in ODI cricket- 49
  • Most runs in Test cricket- 15921
  • Most hundreds in Test cricket- 51

These are just a few of the records the Great man possesses. Besides these, he is also the first man on the planet to have scored a double hundred in the 50-over format of the game.

The most prolific run-scorer of all time and arguably the greatest batter to have ever played the game has been an inspiration to even his contemporaries. Greats of his time Matthew Hayden, Shane Warne, Shoaib Akhtar and many others have often expressed their awe about the man. Hayden once said – “I have seen God and he bats at number four for India,” the statement sums up the respect and adoration he commanded even among his opponents.
