Cricket Australia has decided to cancel its three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in March this year. The series was meant to be played in the United Arab Emirates. Not to forget, the one-off Test between both teams in 2021 was also canceled. Since then, they played each other only once, i.e in the last year’s 20-20 World Cup. Meanwhile, on both occasions, CA canceled the bilateral game for a common reason.

Apparently, in 2021, the Taliban took over the governance in the Asian country. Since then, human rights, especially for women and girls, have gone for a toss. Over the course of more than a year, education and sports for women and girls have been banned. With the CA always being an advocate for sports for women and girls, they have decided to cancel the three-match ODI series against the Afghans.

“CA is committed to supporting growing the game for women and men around the world, including in Afghanistan, and will continue to engage with the Afghanistan Cricket Board in anticipation of improved conditions for women and girls in the country,” the CA statement read.

“We thank the Australian Government for its support on this matter.”

Time to boycott Big Bash League: Naveen ul Haq

In reply, Afghan pacer, Naveen ul Haq took to Twitter and expressed his unhappiness over the matter. He termed the decision ‘childish’ and urged his teammates to boycott the Big Bash League, Cricket Australia’s premier T20 tournament. Players such as himself, Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Fazalulhaq Farooqi, etc have played in the league

“Time to say won’t be participating in big bash after this until they stop these childish decisions that’s how they went about the one off test now ODI when a country is going through so much in place off being supportive you want to take the only reason of happiness from them #CA,” Naveen Ul Haq wrote on Twitter.

However, the fans have been trolling the right-arm pacer.
