Kolkata Knight Riders have settled scores with Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2023 after defeating them by 5 runs in match number 47 of the season at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Batting first, KKR posted a total of 171 runs for the loss of wickets. In reply, SRH could only score 166 runs losing 8 wickets in their 20 overs.

KKR didn’t had a great start as they lost 3 wickets for 35 runs in 4.4 overs. After that, the skipper Nitish Rana and Rinku Singh took the innings further by adding 61 runs for the fourth wicket. Rana got out after scoring 42 runs off 31 balls hitting three fours and three sixes. After that, Andre Russell got out after a quickfire knock of 24 runs off 15 balls.

Rinku lost his wicket in the final over after scoring 46 runs off 35 balls with four fours and a maximum. For SRH, Marc Jansen and T. Natarajan scalped 2-2 wickets, while Bhuvenshwar Kumar, Aiden Markram, Kartik Tyagi and Mayank Markhande shared a wicket each.

SRH kept losing regular wickets

Chasing the winning total, SRH also didn’t had a great start as they lost 4 wickets for 54 runs in 6.2 overs. After that, skipper Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen took charge of the innings by putting up a partnership of 70 runs for the fifth wicket. Klaasen got out after scoring 36 runs hitting one and three sixes. While Markram got after scoring 41 runs off 40 balls hitting four boundaries.

After that, SRH lost momentum again as the match went down to the last where they needed 9 runs to win. In the third ball of the over, Varun Chakravarthy dismissed Abdul Samad after he scored 21 off 18 with three boundaries. Now SRH needed a six off the last ball to win. Bhuvnehswar tried but couldn’t connect the ball as KKR registered a thrilling victory over SRH on their home ground. Vaibhav Arora and Shardul Thakur took 2-2 wickets each for KKR. While, Varun Chakravarthy, Andre Russell, Harshit Rana and Ankul Roy shared a wicket each.
