The Indian cricket board’s selection committee is all set to meet in Delhi to select the squad for the upcoming Continental tournament, the Asia Cup 2023. The 50-over format tournament is scheduled to be played in a hybrid model in Pakistan and Sri Lanka from 30 August. The Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma is expected to visit Delhi for the discussion and selection of the squad. 

The Indian cricket team is lagging behind as they’re taking the time to announce their squad for the Asia Cup, while opponent nations like Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal have already announced their squads for the continental tournament. On the other hand, England and Australia have also announced their preliminary squads for the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, which will be played in India. 

Reportedly, the Indian cricket board is taking their time to select players due to multiple injuries among key players like Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul, and the recently recovered Jasprit Bumrah. Notably, all the other nations have announced their cards with over 15 players and it will be interesting to see if the Indian cricket board will follow the same procedure as other opponent Nations or announce just a 15-man squad for the Asia Cup, 2023. 

India’s selection committee will be led by the former India player and chief selector Ajit Agarkar, and it will be interesting to see how the former cricketer will make the decisions on selecting an entirely new squad.
