Three changes Mumbai need to do to return to winnings ways
Mumbai have been the most successful team in the Indian T20 League history. They have the ITL trophy five teams, the highest by any team in the tournament. But in the 15th edition of the tournament, they have been having the most terrible time. The five-time champions have lost all four of their matches in the tournament and are desperately looking for their first win of the campaign.
Their next assignment in the tournament will be against Punjab. Here are three changes that they should make to return to winning ways and bounce back in the tournament.
1. Rahul Buddhi in place of Ramandeep Singh: In the one match Ramandeep Singh has played he has scored 12 runs off 6 deliveries. He looked in haste while his stay at the crease and thus gave away his wicket. His T20 career’s strike rate is 123.8, which is not impressive for the role Mumbai is using him. They have entrusted the job of a finisher to him, and with his moderate strike rate, Singh might not be the right choice. However, Mumbai can try the young batting all-rounder Rahul Buddhi. Buddhi has a strike rate of 133 in his T20 career and will be the most ideal candidate for the finisher’s role.
2. Fabian Allen in place of Kieron Pollard: Although Kieron Pollard looked in touch in the last match where he scored 22 runs off 5 deliveries he has been suffering from a lack of form in the season. Except for those 22 runs he has scored just 25 runs in 3 innings. Thus, he is completely out of touch and Mumbai can look to replace him with Fabian Allen. Allen has 24 T20 wickets in 34 matches and while batting scores at a strike rate of 136.92. Thus, he can be a handy all-rounder for the team.
3. Mayank Marakande in place of Basil Thampi: In Indian T20 League 2022, Basil Thampi has bowled 12 overs and has conceded 105 runs in them. He has just picked up three wickets in 4 matches. Mumbai has also been suffering from the lack of a quality spinner to partner with Murugan Ashwin in the middle overs. So, Mumbai can replace Thampi with Markande, who impressed everybody in his debut season.
