“Thriller In Nottingham!” – Twitter Erupts As England Win A Thriller T20I Match Against India At Nottingham
After sealing the ongoing three-match T20I series at Edgbaston by winning the second match, India was scheduled to play the third match against England at Nottingham. However, India shocked everyone as they made four changes to their winning playing XI of Edgbaston. Avesh Khan, Umran Malik, Shreyas Iyer, and Ravi Bishnoi were added to the playing XI.
On the other hand, England gave chance to Phil Salt in their playing XI. Speaking about the match, England won the toss and elected to bat first. While batting first, England batters looked in great touch as they scored 31 runs in just 3.4 overs. Dawid Malan played a 77-run knock of 39 balls, including five sixes and six fours. Liam Livingstone also came up with a fantastic unbeaten inning of 42 runs off 29 balls as he smashed four sixes. Dawid Malan lost his wicket to Ravi Bishnoi in the 17th over when England was already at a score of 168.
England managed to put up a massive score of 215 runs in 20 overs by losing seven wickets already. Coming down the order, Chris Jordan also scored 11 runs off 3 balls only. It was not a good day for Indian bowlers as they got smashed all around the park. Among them, only Harshal Patel and Ravi Bishnoi managed to pick up two wickets each by conceding 35 and 30 runs respectively.
Now, India was asked to chase down the highest ever run in England in T20Is. In reply, India had a bad start as they lost two wickets by scoring 13 runs only. Virat Kohli played two amazing shots. But, again he failed cheaply to Willey. Rohit Sharma also failed to convert a start as he departed with 11 runs only. Then, Shreyas Iyer and Suryakumar Yadav looked to build up a partnership during the middle overs. India fought well as they reached up to 195 runs in 19 overs. Suryakumar scored his first ton as he got out for 117 runs off 55 balls only. His innovative shots surprised everyone as England bowlers got smashed all around the park. Despite such a fight, India failed to win the match as they lost by 17 runs only. Hence, India failed to clean sweep England in the series as Jos Buttler sealed his first-ever win as a captain of his country.
