1. Kolkata Knight Riders, 2014
After struggling in the first three seasons, Kolkata excelled in the following seasons by winning the championship in 2012. They kept their core during the mega-player auction and tried to build a strong and competitive squad.
After beating Mumbai in the first game of the season, they failed to capitalize on momentum as they only managed to win one more in the UAE leg. Coming to the India leg of the tournament they made a major change by dropping Jack Kallis and roping in Robin Uthappa.
The decision gave them success as they won five straight games while batting second in the last leg of the tournament. With the help of some heroic batting, they outperformed Chennai with a higher run rate to make it to the playoffs. They eventually made it to the finals and beat Punjab in the finals to win their second title in the last three seasons.
