After winning the first ODI by 5 wickets, India had a disastrous start in the second ODI against Australia as they bowled out for just 117 runs while batting first. Mitchell Starc was the main anchor for the Australian bowling line-up by taking a five-wicket haul.

India were asked to bat first after Australian skipper Steve Smith won the toss. Indian batters got the first shock in the very first over as the in-form batter Shubman Gill went for the duck after playing two deliveries. After that skipper, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli tried to propel the innings further, but Rohit also lost his wicket after the ball by Starc found the edge of his bat, followed by the stunning catch by Smith at the slips.

Suryakumar Yadav was gone for the second consecutive golden duck after Starc bowled him leg before. KL Rahul, who played a match-winning knock in Mumbai, couldn’t continue his form in Visakhapatnam as he was gone for nine runs. Hardik Pandya also went for one run followed by another stunner by Smith on Sean Abbott’s delivery.

Kohli couldn’t capitalize on the good start

Kohli was looking in good touch after scoring 31 runs off 35 balls, but he also lost his wicket to the young pacer Nathan Ellis in the 16th over. Kohli continued his trend of giving his wickets to the young bowler. Axar Patel tried to take the Indian innings further by hitting some spectacular shots. He remained unbeaten on 29 runs off 29 balls. Indian got bowled out in 26 overs, giving Australia the target of 118 runs to level the series.

Starc came as the nightmare for the Indian batter at Vizag. The 33-year-old left-arm pacer scalped 5 five wickets conceding 53 runs in eight overs. He took the big wickets of Rohit, Gill, Suryakumar, and Rahul along with Mohammed Siraj. Sean Abbott took 3 wickets for the Aussies, while Nathan Ellis scalped two, including the big wicket of Kohli.

Australia have a great chance to level the three-match series by 1-1 after losing in Mumbai a couple of days ago.
