‘TV phodo expert hai…’ – Twitter divided after Danish Kaneria takes ‘mic-dropping’ dig at Shahid Afridi

Former Pakistan cricketer Danish Kaneria has taken a massive dig at Shahid Afridi post latter’s appointment as interim chief selector. On December 24, Pakistan Cricket Board appointed the former Pakistan skipper for the job. Alongside him, the likes of Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar Anjum are also appointed as members of the selection committee. The development was announced by the board on Twitter
After the appointment, the 2009 20-20 World Cup winner, Afridi said that he felt honored to be assigned the responsibility. He added that the team needs to get back to winning ways and was confident about the team doing well in the future. The committee has made a few changes to the Pakistan Test squad for the two-match Test series against New Zealand.
They have included the likes of Mir Hamza, Shahnawaz, and Sajid Khan in the team.
“PCB Management Committee has appointed former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi as the interim Chair of the Men’s National Selection Committee. Other members of the panel are: Abdul Razzaq and Rao Iftikhar Anjum. Haroon Rashid will be the Convener,” wrote the PCB on their official Twitter account.
“I feel honoured to have been assigned this responsibility,” said Afridi, who retired from international cricket in 2017.
“We need to get back to our winning ways and I have no doubts that through meritocratic and strategic selection decisions, we will help the national side to perform.”
Shahid Afridi and Danish Kaneria have had an ugly past
A few months back, Kaneria and Afridi got involved in a heated argument. The former claimed that Afridi used to discriminate against him on the basis of his religion. In reply, the former all-rounder hit back with the spot-fixing episode of Kaneria’s career. For the unversed, the fifth-highest wicket-taker for Pakistan in Tests was banned by the ECB on the account of spot-fixing. Notably, the also imposed the same ban on him.
Meanwhile, Kaneria posted a picture of Afridi chewing a cricket ball during playing days. Since then, the fans are divided on the matter.
