Umar Akmal makes huge allegations about the Pakistan team management

Former Pakistan batter, Umar Akmal was known as a good player with high potential as he came into the team with a lot of high hopes for Pakistan. However, during his career, he failed to deliver such performances over the years and he lost his palace in the international set-up.

He played for Pakistan from 2009 to 2019 across all the formats of the game. However, in 2019 he got banned by the Pakistan Cricket Board for eighteen months for not disclosing offers related to spot-fixing. In 2021, he left Pakistan to play league cricket in the United States. Akmal had recently completed his ban for breaching PCB’s anti-corruption code.

Now, he opened up about his relationship with former Pakistan coach, Mickey Arthur during his playing days.

“Mickey Arthur had personal issues with me” – Umar Akmal

Speaking on his time with Mickey and the Pakistan Team management, he said that the former coach had personal issues with him. He also shared disappointment as the Team management did not raise any voice against that, even today. Akmal said: “Mickey Arthur was an unprofessional head coach of Pakistan. Mickey Arthur had personal issues with me but the team management of that time didn’t raise a voice for me and they’re even silent till today. However, Mickey Arthur later did admit that he used harsh words on me.”

He also rose questions about former Pakistan great bowler, Waqar Younis for him to become a head coach also. Akmal also added that he was one of the rare cricketers who ignored heavily paid contracts of T20 leagues of the world to focus on domestic cricket only in Pakistan. “Waqar Younis was a legendary fast bowler but I could not understand him as a head coach. I’m among those rare cricketers of Pakistan who have ignored heavily paid contracts of T20 leagues of the world just for the sake of commitment with the domestic cricket of your own country,” he concluded.

Speaking of his career, he represented Pakistan in 221 matches across all three formats where he scored 5887 runs at an average of 31.65.
