‘Umpire blunder again’ – Twitter Goes Berserk After Pathum Nissanka’s Controversial Dismissal Against Afghanistan
On 27 August 2022, Asia Cup began as Sri Lanka locked horns with Afghanistan in the UAE. However, Afghanistan won the toss and opted to field first. But, Sri Lankan batters were in trouble when they came out to bat. But, an incident happened when Pathum Nissanka was batting in the match. He scored only three runs off seven balls.
Pathum Nissanka lost his wicket due to a controversial decision of the umpire. However, this controversy happened during the second over of the match. Umpire gave him out for a caught behind. But, Nissanka took the review with the hope to overturn the decision in favour of him. Meanwhile, no spike was there on the ultra edge. Still, the TV umpire decided to give him out. It also surprised the player and other Sri Lankan players after seeing the final decision.

Speaking of the match, Sri Lankan batters looked completely clueless while they came out to bat. They lost three wickets in two overs by scoring five runs. Bhanuka Rajapaksa only managed to score 38 runs as Sri Lanka got bowled out for 105 runs in 19.4 overs. Afghanistan’s Fazalhaq Farooqi took three wickets in 3.4 overs by conceding 11 runs only. Meanwhile, this controversial dismissal of Pathum Nissanka was in the headlines.
Speaking of that dismissal, fans have reacted on social media platforms regarding this dismissal. Fans were in complete shock by not seeing any spike at all during the review. But, still, the umpire stuck with their decision. In reply, Afghanistan batters looked in superb form as they have already scored 106 runs in 10.1 overs by losing two wickets. Rahmanullah Gurbaz scored 40 runs off 18 balls, including four sixes and three boundaries. He scored the runs at a strike rate of 222.22.
