‘Umran Malik ka toofan’ – Fans in absolute disbelief as Umran Malik clocks fastest delivery by Indian in ODIs

Umran Malik has made another record in terms of the fastest ball bowled by an Indian. During the T20I series against Sri Lanka, he clocked 155 kmph which was the highest by an Indian in the shortest format of the game. Now, during the first ODI against the same opposition on January 10, the Jammu and Kashmir player made another record and is closing in on the fastest delivery across the globe.

At this, former Pakistan speedster Shoaib Akhtar currently holds the record for the fastest delivery across the globe. He bowled a 161.3 kmph delivery to cricketer-turned-commentator Nick Knight from England. Notably, the record was made during the 2003 World Cup. On the last ball of the fourth over of the Three Lions’ inning, Akhtar bowled a 161.3 kmph delivery.

Almost 20 years after making the record, the Rawalpindi player still holds the record. In late 2015, Australia’s Mitchell Starc came close as he clocked 160 kph against former New Zealand skipper Ross Taylor. The delivery broke the latter’s bat as Starc bowled a yorker at this pace and the toe end of the bat had to block it out. Meanwhile, no player has been able to break Shoaib’s record.

Meanwhile, Malik, who bowled 156 kph delivery in the 14 over of Sri Lanka, needs to bowl six kph quicker to break the record. He already holds the record for bowling the fastest delivery in the Indian T20 League (157 kph). The right-arm pacer did it in the last year’s tournament. Meanwhile, he is set to play the next two games against the Lankan Lions. The fans will be willing to see him breaking the record. Meanwhile, after clocking 156 kph, the fans couldn’t believe their eyes.
