Umran Malik receives a warm welcome in his hometown

The new pace sensation of India, Umran Malik received a warm welcome when he visited his hometown in Gujjar Nagar in Jammu and Kashmir after the India T20 League 2022. The Mohalla Welfare Committee of Gujjar Nagar organized a felicitation ceremony for the tear-away pacer.
The event arranged in honor of Umran was graced by the presence of his father Abdul Rashid Malik, the local SP City, and several other dignitaries. In a video that has gone viral on social media, it is seen that the locals are cheering loudly for the pacer as he gets down from his car. The teens and locals surrounded the pacer while taking selfies with him. The organizing committee also presented him with a memento.
“Not only Gujjar Nagar or Jammu and Kashmir, but my son is also receiving a lot of love from all around the country. We just want him to do his best,”- said Umran Malik’s father in the video.
The locals thanked the SP City for honoring the local hero. They also hoped that Malik soon breaks the record set by Shoaib Akhtar of the fastest delivery in the history of the game. After a brilliant show in the Indian T20 League 2022, he will be next seen in action in India’s home T20I series against South Africa.
Talking about his performance in the Indian T20 League 2022, Malik picked up 22 wickets from 14 matches. His strike rate was very impressive at 13.40, while his economy was a bit on the higher side reading 9.03 runs per over. Malik also bowled the fastest delivery of the season clocking 157 kmph in a match. This was also the second-fastest delivery in the history of the tournament. Besides his brilliant spell of 5 for 25 in a league stage match against Gujarat will be remembered as one of the best fast-bowling spells in the history of the tournament.
Meanwhile, the national squad of which Umran Malik is a part will be playing South Africa in a five-match T20I series. The first match of the series will be played at New Delhi on June 9.
