Ravindra Jadeja has been an integral part of the Chennai team ever since he started playing for them in 2011. He has taken the Men in Yellow to many memorable wins with his brilliant all-around shows. But things have taken a southward turn between the all-rounder and the franchise during the ongoing season of the Indian T20 League.

Things have gone to the level where the cricketer and the franchise unfollowed each other on social media. But as per reports, things are still heading south and they might unfollow each other in the real world also. As reported by InsideSport, a source close to Jadeja has revealed that the all-rounder is ‘upset and very hurt with how Chennai team management has handled his case.

“Yes, he (Jadeja) is upset and very hurt. The captaincy issue could have been handled better. Everything was too sudden, too abrupt. Any human being would get hurt by the way things shaped up”- said the source as quoted by InsideSport.

According to the same report no response has yet been received from the franchise. Meanwhile, while questioned whether his injury was the reason that he pulled out of the Indian T20 League 2022, the source refused to comment much on it. He just said that Jadeja had an injury, however, he is not aware of the seriousness of the same.

It is worthy to note that while announcing the unavailability of Ravindra Jadeja, the CEO of the Chennai team Kashi Vishwanathan stated – “As Chennai is already ousted from the ITL Playoff race, the team did not want to risk his injury further.”

Cricket experts and fans are also now talking about the seriousness of Jadeja’s injury. “Jadeja has become unavailable for the entire season. Can’t understand this. On the ground, it didn’t seem like a big injury. So, you can say that something or the other is happening,”- Sanjay Manjrekar said during a conversation with ESPNCricinfo.

Notably, Jadeja was made the captain of the team just ahead of the beginning of the season. Chennai lost 6 of the 8 matches that they played under him and suddenly Jadeja stepped down from the role ahead of the Hyderabad match. Chennai’s media release read- “Jadeja has left captaincy to focus on his personal batting and bowling.”

But quoting a Chennai insider from InsideSport- “He (Ravindra Jadeja) looked lethargic, subdued and unimaginative. He was not his usual confident self while leading the team.”

With all the statements and counter statements, something is cooking for sure. The fans will be waiting to see how the incident develops. Whether Chennai and Jadeja part ways or the franchise successfully negotiates with him remains folded in the sleeves of the coming time.
