In the 35th fixture of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Gujarat Titans (GT) locked horns against the most successful franchise of the IPL, Mumbai Indians at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium, in Gujarat on Tuesday, April 25. The defending champion won the match by 55 runs and the young, Abhinav Manohar was awarded the Player of the Match award for his brilliant performance where he scored 42 runs from 21 balls with three fours and three sixes each.
If we talk about the encounter, the five-time champions won the toss and elected to ball first. GT scored a mammoth total of 207 runs with the loss of seven wickets after the completion of the first innings. The highest scorer for the side was Shubman Gill who scored 56 runs off 34 balls with seven fours and a six. Miller also scored a quickfire knock of 46 runs from just 22 balls with four sixes and two fours. In the end, Rahul Tewatia played an unbeaten knock of 20 runs from five balls which included three sixes in his innings.

While chasing a mammoth total of 208 runs, MI was able to score only 152 runs with the loss of nine wickets. The highest scorer for the visitors was Nehal Wadhera who scored runs off just 21 balls which included three fours and three sixes in the innings. Star Australia all-rounder, Cameron Green also scored crucial 33 runs off 26 balls which included three sixes but that was not enough.
“Lucky to be in this franchise. We get to bat for as long as we want in the net sessions here. I practice a lot and have a lot of self-belief because of it. That’s paying off. I’ve been gifted to time the bowl well, to do it at this level feels like a dream. This game I couldn’t start going from ball one because of the situation, but it was good to get my eye in and play my game,” Manohar was quoted as saying in the post-match presentation.
