‘Vadapav the biggest cheater’ – Fans slam Rohit Sharma after he claims a ‘Close’ catch against Bangladesh in first ODI
Team India began their three-match ODI series in Bangladesh on 4 December 2022. After the 20-20 World Cup, senior players like Rohit Sharma took a rest from the whole New Zealand tour. However, now they are back in the squad as this series is going to be a crucial one for both teams in the context of the upcoming 2023 World Cup.
Even, Rohit Sharma was looking for a winning start in this series in order to get a settled squad before the World Cup. Speaking of the match, Litton Das won the toss and asked the Men in Blue to bat first. For India, the skipper Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan came out to open the innings.

However, India experienced a batting collapse as they scored only 186 runs in 41.2 overs by losing all of their wickets. Only KL Rahul scored 73 runs off 70 balls, including five fours and four sixes. Rohit Sharma scored only 27 runs off 31 balls, including four boundaries and one six. For Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan took five wickets for 36 runs in 10 overs. In reply, the skipper Litton Das and Najmul Hossain Shanto came out to bat. During that innings, Rohit Sharma got involved in a controversial incident that took place in the 13th over. Shahbaz Ahmed was bowling while Litton Das was batting.
On the third delivery of that over, Litton went forward to defend but got an outside edge. Rohit Sharma was in the slips and he took that while tumbling across to his right. The ball seemed to be dying while going low to Rohit’s right. Litton was not convinced as the umpires sent the decision to the third umpires. They also shared the soft signal of not-out. Then, replays showed that the ball dropped just short before carrying into India’s Skipper’s hands. So, Litton Das survived that dismissal and continued to bat. After seeing that outcome, fans started to slam Rohit for claiming that catch.
