Venkatesh Prasad Gives His Verdict On Arshdeep Singh’s Chances Of Making Into The World Cup Squad
On 6 August 2022, India won the fourth T20I against West Indies by 59 runs. This win ensured another T20I series victory for India under Rohit Sharma ahead of the T20 World Cup. However, youngster Arshdeep Singh delivered another impressive performance by picking up three wickets.
After such a performance, former India pacer Venkatesh Prasad heaped high praises for the new bowling sensation of India. Arshdeep Singh helped India to restrict West Indies to 132 runs while chasing 192 runs
Apart from Prasad, another former India great, Kris Srikanth also batted for his selection for the upcoming T20 World Cup. Speaking on Fan Code before the start of the third T20I match, he said that Arshdeep will be the number one bowler in the shortest format of the game one day.
Srikkanth also urged the Indian selector, Chetan Sharma, to select him for the World Cup. “He will be the future world no.1 in T20Is. He is simply outstanding. Arshdeep Singh! Make a note of it. He will be on the T20 World Cup team. Come on Chetu, please take his name also,” He said.
Speaking about the fourth T20I, India batted first and scored 191 runs by losing five wickets in 20 overs. But, in reply, West Indies batters failed to chase it down. They got bundled out for just 132 runs in 19.1 overs. Arshdeep Singh took three wickets by conceding only 12 runs in 3.1 overs. But, Avesh Khan won the player of the match award for grabbing two wickets for 17 runs in four overs. India is going to play the last match of this series on 7 August 2022.
