 Vinod Kambli’s wife registers FIR against her husband for assault, latter hospitalized

Former India cricketer, Vinod Kambli has been booked for assaulting his wife, Andrea Hewitt. The former is alleged to be under the influence of alcohol and become violent aftermath. The left-hander hasn’t been arrested as of now. On the other hand, Hewitt has filed a First Information Report (FIR) against her husband. Kambli is said to be drunk in his apartment in JWL Cooperative Housing Society in Bandra Reclamation.

Aftermath, he is alleged to have hit his wife with a broken handle of a cooking pan. This caused injuries to the latter’s head. After this, Kambli picked up a cricket bat and hit her with it too. However, she managed to separate the bat from her husband’s hands. Now, Vinod has been booked by the Bandra police for causing injuries under the Indian Penal Code (IPC)

“The complainant has said that Kambli threw the broken handle of a cooking pan at her, causing injuries to her head. He also tried to hit her with a bat but she managed to wrest it out of his hands, after which she immediately took both her children and left the house,” said an officer with the Bandra police station.

“We have booked Kambli for voluntarily causing injuries with a dangerous weapon and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace under the Indian Penal Code,” said the officer.

After the unfortunate incident, Andrea has been hospitalized. She confirmed the FIR and added that she left with her son. Hewitt further added that she and her son were abused for no reason.

“Despite trying to pacify him, he abused me and my son for no reason. He charged at us. After hitting the cooking panhandle, he charged again with a bat. I managed to stop him before leaving with my son, and rushed to the hospital,” Andrea has put on record in the FIR.
