With a crushing seven-wicket victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore, Delhi Capitals kept their Indian Premier League hopes alive, thanks to an outrageous performance of ball striking from Phil Salt.

Before Mahipal Lomror (54 not out off 29) produced a career-best performance to lead Royal Challengers Bangalore to 181 for four, Virat Kohli (55 off 56) concluded his ‘homecoming’ with a historic fifty.

After the match between the Delhi Capitals (DC) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Sourav Ganguly and Virat Kohli shook hands, putting a full stop to the controversy around them.

When these two teams previously locked horns, there was debate about the handshake since it appeared in certain pictures that Ganguly and Kohli did not shake hands after the game. According to reports, the two unfollowed each other on Instagram after the incident. That wasn’t the case, though, as the two icons shook hands and even had a little conversation following DC‘s victory on Saturday.

Virat Kohli completes 7000 runs in Indian Premier League

In this match, the former India skipper made history when he became the first player to score 7,000 runs in the IPL. A pavilion at this stadium bears Kohli’s name, who also earned another honor at his home ground. Unexpectedly, DC had the option to choose Kohli in IPL 2008 but chose not to. Prior to reaching the big milestone, he spent 15 years being passed by by the franchise.

Kohli was 12 runs short of accumulating 7000 runs in the T20 league before the start of the DC VS RCB game. He started his innings against Khaleel Ahmed with a boundary and scored the 7000th run in the league in the second over off Axar Patel.

Kohli has now scored more than 7000 runs in 233 games. He averages 36 and has a strike rate of more than 129. Kohli’s record includes five centuries in total. He scored four of these five hundredS in the 2016 IPL. The former RCB captain scored 973 runs during the competition’s ninth season, when he was in the greatest physical shape of his life.
